The hotel was old and falling apart. We were far from the Grand Rios water park area as it is a very large hotel. Someone pulled the panty liner off of a new swim suit and stuck it on the wall next to the light switch in our room, so housekeeping did not do a great job of cleaning--if they cleaned at all?
The Grand Rios offers an arcade, but many of the machines were broken. Lockers at the water park cost extra, even for paying guests at the hotel. We ran out of toilet paper, and could not find housekeeping to ask for more. We called the front desk twice for some, but never got any.
The water park may have been really great in its day, but it is rundown and the water is extremely cold! We brought our two-year-old granddaughter, and after ten minutes in the pool area, she said "Gamma I'm cold," with purple lips,
Grand Rios is not a fun place to be when it is eight degrees outside and the pool water feels the same. On top of everything, they had NO towels for us freezing people. It was not even busy, and they said they had run out!
Also, the water slides were not up and running, and we were told it was because they did not have enough staffing for them to be up and running? We paid $190.00 for our room for one night. They should hire more employees.
There was no breakfast offered, however there was a restaurant nearby. I would never stay here again, even if they gave me a free stay. What a disappointment! Do not waste your money or time. I would have rated Grand Rios a negative, but About.com's form does not offer the option. This is the first time I have ever written a review about anything. I want parents to know not to go here!!! Your kids will not have a good time unless they enjoy cold cold water and a mostly closed water park.
