Avalanche Bay at Grand Mountain Lodge

By

Avalanche Bay at Grand Mountain Lodge

A surfing ride is one of the attractions at Avalanche Bay.

Boyne.

Overview:

At 88,000 square feet, Avalanche Bay is one of the larger indoor water parks. Its attrcations include Rip Zone, a FlowRider surf simulator, and The Vertigo "toilet" bowl ride.

Capitalizing on its location at Boyne Mountain, the park features a ski chalet motif. For example, icicles hang from the ceiling (even in the dead of summer), overhead buckets traveling along a "ski lift" dump water on guests, and a snowcapped tree fort doubles as a huge water play structure, complete with an "avalanche" of water cascading off the top of the "mountain" every few minutes. (Sorry for all of the "quotation marks!")

The park also features a large arcade with redemption games. Avalanche Bay is located at Boyne Mountain, which also includes skiing, golf, restaurants, shopping, a spa, and lodging. Among the onsite accommodations, Boyne Mountain Resort offers condominium suites.

Avalanche Bay is one of many Michigan Indoor Water Parks.
