- Consider purchasing Halloween Horror Night Express passes (additional cost), particularly for weekend nights, to bypass long lines at the haunted mazes.
- Be forewarned: Universal doesn't skimp on the gross-out gore and advertises Halloween Horror Nights as being rated "PG-13." It's probably best to leave the younger kiddos at home.

The theme for Universal Orlando's 19th annual Halloween Horror Nights is "Ripped from the Silver Screen," and will include homages to the horror staples Saw and Chucky as well as the remake of the Universal classic film, The Wolfman. Awooo! The park, which arguably has staged the world's best Halloween event over the past few years, is promising new haunted houses, new scare zones, and new live shows. Other characters, including Universal's Frankenstein and Dracula, will join the funereal festivities as well.
The eight haunted houses at the 2009 Halloween Horror Nights will have the following themes:
- Silver Screams- Tour the creepy Universal Palace theater, and see highlights from films such as “The Phantom of the Opera,” “My Bloody Valentine 3D,” and “Shaun of the Dead.”
- Saw
- The Wolfman
- Chucky: Friends to the End
- Dracula: Legacy of Blood
- Frankenstein: Creation of the Damned
- The Spawning- Weird creatures are taking over the sewers.
- Leave it to Cleaver- It seems the town butcher has an unusual source for his meat.
Using enhancements like theatrical fog and inspired props, Universal will undoubtedly do its usual incredible job making over the park with distinct scare zones. And you can count on ghouls lurking around every corner. Dare to enter the 2009 event's scare zones:
- Lights, Camera, Hacktion!!! - Visit the set of a horror film and become part of the action.
- Horrorwood Die-In- A haunted drive-in.
- Apocalypse: City of Cannibals- The name says it all.
- Cirque Du Freak- Based on the upcoming film.
- War of the Living Dead- Set during World War II.
- Containment- Oh oh! A bio nerve gas has been released.
Bill and Ted will be back for another excellent adventure. For the uninitiated, the slacker time travelers star in a bizarre Broadway-esque song and dance romp each year in which they skewer current events and people in the news. The event will also feature a Rocky Horror Picture Show tribute.
Many of the parks' premier rides, like the highly themed Revenge of the Mummy roller coaster (which, of course, fits right into the event's vibe), will be open during the event, but the focus will be on the Halloween hoopla.
The popular HHN frequently sells out, especially on weekends, so it's advisable to purchase tickets in advance (see info above).
