Parks are arranged alphabetically, by state. This page includes Massachusetts to Texas, plus Canada.

The preceding page features events at Six Flags parks in California to Maryland.

Six Flags New England, Agawam (near Springfield, MA and Hartford, CT), MA

Haunts will include Wicked Woods (a wicked walk through the park's, you know, wicked woods) and Midnight Mansion (which both require an extra fee), plus scare zones and shows, such as Verdict of Sorcery, an ode to Massachusetts' witch trials. During the day, Six Flags New England will offer more family-friendly activities, including a trick-or-treat trail and a magic show. The park also offers a toned-down daytime tour of its Midnight Mansion maze.

Six Flags St. Louis, Eureka, MO

  • 2013 dates: Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, Sept. 28 to Oct. 27.
  • For more info: Fright Fest official page

Haunts will included The Slaughter House and the new Total Darkness maze. The park will offer special activities for younger kids, including trick-or-treating, crafts, storytelling, and a Kids Costume Contest. Fright Fest will also include shows, featuring Deadman's Party (just what do you get a deadman for a present, anyways?), P.T. Barnum's Side Show, a hypnotist, and the musical, Love at First Fright.

New Jersey

Six Flags Great Adventure, Jackson (southern part of the state, near the shore), NJ

  • 2013 dates: Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, Sept. 13 to Oct. 27 plus Monday, Oct. 14 (Columbus Day)
  • For more info: Fright Fest official page

2013 info: The spooky activities will kick off each evening at 6 p.m. with The A-WAKEning, a funeral procession. Great Adventure's event will also feature the new haunted trail, Total Darkness, plus The Manor, Voodoo Island, Wasteland, Asylum, and The Haunted Heist, which all require an additional fee. Shows include Circus of Thrills and Doc Swan's Freak Show. Great Adventure will also haunt the midways with spooky "streetmosphere," including haunt zones such as Straw-Man Stalkers and The Bloody Fountain. For younger kids, the park will present daytime activities such as a corn maze, trick-or-treat trail, and a Halloween-themed sea lion show.

New York

The Great Escape, Queensbury (near Lake George), NY

  • 2013 dates: Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, Oct. 4-27
  • For more info: Fright Fest official page

Haunts include Malice in Wonderland, Skull Manor, and Saloon of Darkness (sounds like most of the watering holes I frequent). There will also be a variety of Halloween shows such as Dead Man's Party and The Awakening as well as tricked-out rides such as the Alpine Bobsled Terror and the Pirate Ship Siren Song. Less spooky daytime offerings will include a screaming contest (which is a regular occurrence aboard the park's coasters) and a trick-or-treat trail.

Six Flags Fiesta Texas, San Antonio, TX

  • 2013 dates: Saturdays and Sunday, Oct. 6-27 plus Monday, October 14 and Fridays, October 18 and 25
  • For more info: Fright Fest official page

2013 info: Would you dare to enter Fear House? (Not a very original name, but at least you know what you're getting yourself into.) How about RockKill High School, the educational establishment formerly known as Rockville High School? If they sound too frightening, you could check out the shows such and rides, many of which will be offered with the lights out. For younger kids, expect trick-or-treating with Bugs and the gang (called "Twick or Tweat Twail," in honor of Tweety Bird I guess) as well as cookie pumpkin decorating.

Six Flags Over Texas, Arlington (near Dallas), TX

  • 2013 dates: Sept. 21, 22, 28, 29, Oct. 4-6, 11-14, 18-20, 25-27
  • For more info: Fright Fest official page

The original Six Flags park will join in the Fright Fest celebration with haunted houses such as Cirkus Berzerkus, Skullduggery, and Piggy's Blood Shed (disturbing, but clever name!). Fright Fest shows will feature Welcome to Arania's Nightmare, WBAT Final Challenge, local bands, and Dr. Fright's Final Freak Out, an end-of-the-night dance-crazy presentation. For younger kids, the park will offer trick-or-treating, Scary-Oke, and a costume contest at Looney Tunes Spooky Town.

Quebec, Canada

La Ronde, Montreal

  • 2013 dates: Saturdays and Sundays, Oct. 5 to 27, plus Monday, October 14
  • Cost: Included in La Ronde admission.
  • For more info: Fright Fest official page

2013 info: La Ronde's Fright Fest will include three haunted houses, including Doll House, scare zones, and specially themed shows. For younger children, the park will offer a toned-down maze and other activities.
