2012 info: Eight haunted mazes include The Aftermath, a post-apocalyptic no-man's land, and Cursed, which features the lovely combination of gypsies and werewolves. New mazes include Willoughby's Resurrected, an update to a classic maze, and Blackout, a maze that is presented in near total darkness. All of the mazes require the purchase of a wristband for admission. Special Halloween-themed shows include the musical, Off with Your Head. It's become a Fright Fest tradition to run the wooden coaster, Colossus, backwards, and to run other coasters such as X2 and Tatsu in the dark. Magic Mountain will also offer a more mild "Chilling Thrills by Day" area in Bugs Bunny World with crafts, a trick-or-treat trail, and the Looney Tunes characters decked out in their Halloween finest.

2012 info: Fright Fest will feature two new haunted mazes for its 2012 event, including Massacre Mine, a terror-filled abandoned gold mine, and Cirkus Berzerkus, a demented take on The Greatest Show on Earth (psycho clowns, anyone?). Shows include The Awakening, an interactive show in which audience members get to choose the fate of an accused murderer. Something tells me, the gallows that is part of the show's set will get used every time. During the day, Discovery Kingdom caters to younger kids with trick or treat stations, cookie decorating, and other activities. More mild Fright Fest shows for the whole family include Club Cetacean (dolphins) and the Spoofy Sea Lion Show.
Georgia

2012 info: Haunts include Dr. Fright's Frightorium (which, I am surmising, should be, um, frightening) and the Terror Train. Six Flags Over Georgia will also be bringing back the Last Ride, which, for an additional fee, will offer guests the experience of being buried alive. Seriously! This is twisted stuff, folks. There will also be themed shows such as Dr. Fright's Dead Man's Party (the Dr. sure gets around) and Grouchy Griswold: Insult Comic. (You might want to stay away from the front row for that performance.) During the day, younger kids can enjoy more mild events in Bugs Bunny's Spooky Town, including trick-or-treating, pumpkin painting, and spooky stories.

2012 info: Six Flags Great America will present a daily Zombie Jamboree Parade to kick off the event. Also look for five haunted houses (which require an extra fee), including the new Wicked Woods and the returning Massacre Medical Center (not sure the docs there observe the Hippocratic oath). Frightful shows (which Six Flags dubs "monstertainment") feature Susan Rosen: Mistress of Mesmerism and the musical, Love at First Fright. For younger kids, special attractions will include a trick-or-treat trail.

2012 info: The haunted attractions include Backwoods Bloodshed, an outdoor maze, and Bridge of Terror, a haunted walk-through attraction filled with flesh-eating demons. Fright Fest musical shows include the new magic show, Stage Fright. For the young 'uns, the park will offer activities such as a trick-or-treat trail, a costume contest, and a not-so-scary Kiddie Hayride.
