PENNSYLVANIA

HalloWeekends and BooBlast
2009 HalloWeekends dates: Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, Sept. 25 to Nov. 1
2009 BooBlast dates: Saturdays, and Sundays, Sept. 26 to Nov. 1
Cost: $30.99 on Saturdays and Sundays, $22.99 on Fridays, $20.99 for juniors and seniors.

Haunted houses will include Corn Stalkers. For younger kids, the park will offer Boo Blast with scare-free activities such as trick-or-treating, pumpkin painting, and a magical funhouse.

Hersheypark

Hersheypark in the Dark
2009 dates: Oct. 16-18, 23-25, 30, 31, and Nov. 1.
Cost: $24.95, $15.95 for juniors and seniors.

Hey, who could possibly be more of an authority on trick-or-treating than the Hershey folks, right? There aren't any hanuted houses, but Hershey will offer a costume contest, shows, such as Bunsen and the Burners, and trick-or-treating. At the adjacent ZooAmerica, guests can bring flashlights to observe the nocturnal habits of animals at Creatures of the Night.

Idlewild

2009 dates: Sep. 26, 27, Oct. 3, 10, 11, 17, 18, 24, and 25.
Cost: $21.99

Idlewild is geared to the pre-teen crowd, so it's no surprise that its Halloween event steers clear of the usual gore. Instead, the park will feature trick-or-treating, themed rides, and a two walk-through mazes.

The classic trolley park goes to the dark side with special Halloween features such as Villa of the Vampires and Voo-Doo Bayou. Rides, including Noah's Ark get a spook-tastic makeover.

Haunted mazes include Cavern of Darkness and The Hunted. Keeping in the spirit of Busch Gardens great shows, Howl-O-Scream also features some wild sounding revues, including Movies of the Macabre and Jack is Back.

2009 BooBlast Dates: Saturdays and Sundays, Oct. 3 to Nov. 1

Haunts will include Feary Tales and Voodoo Swamp. Shows will include Graveyard Shift and Disturbia. For younger kids, BooBlast offers the Great Goblin Foam pit foam pit, The Amazing Maize Maze, and the mild haunt, Goblin Cave.

WASHINGTON

Even though it's no longer part of the Six Flags family, Wild Waves still uses the name FrightFest for its Halloween event. Features will include two haunted houses, Haloween shows, and a trick-or-treat area for younger kids.

2009 dates: Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, Sept. 25 to 31, plus Thursday, Oct. 1.
Cost: $33.95 general admission. Discounts for toddlers and seniors.

Haunted houses will include Psycho Dave's Salvage Yard and Hal O. Ween High. For younger kids, the park offers the non-scary Spook-A-Boo Walk-Thru. Shows include Scream and The Hackenslash Chainsaw Demonstration Team.
