MINNESOTA

Valleyfair

Halloween Haunt at ValleySCARE
2009 dates: Sept. 26, 27, Oct. 2-4, 9-11, 14-18, 23-25, 30, 31, & Nov. 1.
Cost: $38.99 all day, $17.99 for kids and seniors. Discount for starlight admission.

Haunted mazes include The Mangler Asylum and CarnEvil. The park will also feature Blood Creek Cemetery, a haunted zone. Shows include The Boogie Monsters and the Madness and Mayhem Show. For younger kids, the park will offer a pirate-themed trick-or-treat trail and other scare-free activities.

2009 dates: Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, Sept. 25 to Nov. 1.
All-day, twilight (after 3 p.m.), and FrightNight (after 6 p.m.) ticket options available. Online discount available at Halloween Haunt official site.

Among the six haunted houses will be BloodShed and Camp Gonnagitcha Witchahatchet (don't you just love the names?). Shows include Meat Cleaver High. For younger kids, the park offers Magical House on Boo Hill, a not-so-haunted house, a kids costume contest, and other activities and shows.

NEVADA

Adventuredome Theme Park (at Circus Circus)

2009 dates: Oct. 2-4, 9-11, 15-18, 22-25, and 28-31.
Cost: $34.95 general admission

Among the five haunted houses will be two themed to the Saw horror films. Other attractions include freak shows.

Haunts will include Dead Shed and The Village. Shows will include Circus of the Strange, Monster Bash, and a nightly Monster Parade.

NEW YORK

Even though it's no longer part of the Six Flags family, Elitch Gardens continues to use the name Fright Fest for its Halloween event. Darien Lake will offer one haunted house with the clever name, "Haunted House." and Fright Night Field Trip, a haunted trail. The park will also present Crazy Cliff's Twisted Nightmare, a magic and freak show. Younger kids can get some sweets at Darien Lake's Trick-or-Treat Trail and enjoy a corn maze, pumpkin painting and other family fun in the park's Booville.

NORTH CAROLINA

SCarowinds Halloween Haunt and Howl-O-Fest's Boo Blast
2009 SCarowinds dates: Sep. 25, 26, Oct. 2, 3, 9-11, 16-18, 23-25, and 29-31.
2009 Howl-O-Fest's Boo Blast dates: Saturdays and Sundays, Sept. 26 to Nov. 1.
Cost: SCarowinds is $42.99 at the gate. $33.99 if purchased online at SCarowinds official site. Howl-O-Fest's Boo Blast is included with park admission.

Haunts will include Camp Killauee and Last Laff 3-D. The park will also present the Haunted Homecomeing show. Geared to younger kids, Howl-o-Fest will offer a hay maze, a costume parade, and other milder Halloween fun.

Cost: $44.99 for Saturdays and Sundays at the gate. $19.99 for juniors (under 48") and seniors (62+). $29.99 for starlight admission (Fridays after 6 p.m. and Sundays after 4 p.m.)

It's HalloWeekends 13; that alone is kinda scary! Haunted houses will include Fear Faire and Terror Island. Shows will include The Return of Dr. Cleaver. For younger kids, the park will feature the Peanuts characters in Planetkingsisland Spooky and offer a kids-only mild haunted house, the Magical House on Boo Hill.

Halloween Haunt and Howl-O-Fest
2009 dates for Halloween Haunt: Sept. 25, 26, Oct. 2, 3, 8- 11, 15-18, 23, 24, 30, and 31.
2009 dates for Howl-O-Fest: Saturdays and Sundays from Sept. 25 to Oct. 31.
Cost: Prices vary depending on the night. Online discounts available at Halloween Haunt official site

Haunts will include Club Blood and Death Row. Shows will include Ghouls Gone Wild (great name!). Howl-O-Fest will be geared to younger kids, and will include a hay maze, pumpkin patch, costume parade, trick-or-treating, and other activities.

OKLAHOMA

Frontier City

2009 dates: Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, Oct. 9 to 31.
Cost: Included in admission. Although it's no longer part of the Six Flags family, Frontier City still uses the name FrightFest for its Halloween event. Attractions will include the House of Screams haunted house, the Dead Man's Party show, and the trick-or-treat trail, pumpkin decorating, and other milder activities in BooVille for younger guests.
