Scaredy-Parks
Guide to 2009 Halloween Events at North American Theme Parks and Amusement Parks

By , About.com Guide

Disney's HalloweenTime at Disneyland.

Nov 20 2009
Until 1972, the year that Knott's Berry Farm transformed its Southern California park into Knott's Scary Farm, parks didn't embrace Halloween. Most generally shut their gates soon after Labor Day. Now, however, virtually every park has jumped on the hay wagon with elaborate haunted houses, shows, and other Halloween hoopla. Discover where to find spooky fun in the weeks leading up to Halloween.

The guide is arranged alphabetically by U.S. state and ends with Canada. This page includes Halloween events at parks in U.S. states from Arkansas to Massachusetts.

The next page includes Halloween events at parks in Minnesota to Oklahoma.

The final page includes Halloween events at parks in Pennsylvania to Utah, plus Canada.

In past years, the event kicked each evening off with a Haunted Processional. FrightFest will offer haunted houses. Younger kids can get some sweets at Elitch's Trick-or-Treat Trail.

CONNECTICUT

There will be a total of 22 haunted houses, trails, and, scare zones, including, of course, a haunted graveyard. Among the scares are Zombie Forest, Mayan Temple, and the ever-popular Slaughter House. Best of all, brave souls get to sample Boulder Dash, one of my picks for the top wooden coasters, in the deep, dark night. Now that's scary. Lake Compounce donates a portion of the proceeds to the American Diabetes Association.
