Tropical Islands, Germany. The Claim: World's Largest Indoor Water Park

The world's largest--by far--indoor water park.

Tropical Islands
About.com's Theme Parks Guide says:

Whew. I don't know about you, but my head is still swimming after trying to make sense out of all those confusing claims and counter claims about the largest indoor water parks in America and North America. Did you notice, however, that none of the indoor water parks tried to boast that it was the largest in the world? There's good reason for that. There are two parks that, ahem, blow all of the North American parks out of the water.

In second place, at 322,752 square feet, is Ocean Dome in Miyazaki City, Japan. It is the length of three football fields, and has a retractable roof. It appears that Ocean Dome has closed, however.

And in first place--timpani, please--is Tropical Islands in Brand, Germany. Housed in a former zeppelin hangar, the structure spans over 710,000 square feet and is the largest freestanding building in the world. It can accommodate up to 7000 visitors. Tropical Islands offers a variety of attractions in addition to its indoor beach and water rides. Regardless, it easily qualifies as the world's largest indoor water park. Take that, Wisconsin Dells!
