Maya Indoor Water Park and Resort

Note that the project has been delayed, and developers say that the Maya Indoor Water Park and Resort will start construction in spring 2012. The Wingate Hotel, Headrush Action Sports park, and Quaker Steak & Lube Restaurant will be open during construction.

When it opens, Maya Indoor Water Park and Resort will be an average-sized indoor waterpark, at about 50,000 sq. ft. Its developers say that a second phase will boost the total area above 90,000 sq. ft., which would make it one of the larger indoor water parks.

It will feature two FlowRider surfing attractions, which should offer plenty of capacity for both novice and more experienced surfers. It will also offer a family raft ride, a number of water slides, a whirlpool spa, an "adventure" river (a lazy river with some gotcha elements), and an interactive play center with a tipping bucket. There will also be an activity area for toddlers.

In the warmer months, the Maya will offer outdoor water park attractions, including a wave pool, water slides, and whirlpool spa.

The 87-room Wingate Inn Hotel is currently open. The resort is constructing a second hotel with 200+ rooms. There is also a Quaker Steak & Lube Restaurant on the campus. Adjacent to the water park and resort is HeadRush Action Sports Park, which is owned and operated by the same company. The park offers paintball; expansion plans call for laser tag, miniature golf, go-karts, BMX, Motocross, skateboarding, and snowboarding as well.

The water park will be open to registered hotel guests and will offer day passes to the general public.

The water park and resort will be located off I-690, near the New York State Fairgrounds.

From Syracuse: I-690W to Exit 5 (State Fair Blvd., Lakeland), left onto State Fair Blvd., right onto to Walters Road to water park.

From east: Take I-90W (NYS Thruway) to Exit 39, right onto I-690E to Exit 5 (State Fair Blvd., Lakeland). Right onto State Fair Blvd., 2nd Left to Walters Road to water park.

From west: Take I-90E (NYS Thruway) to Exit 39, right onto I-690E, follow directions above to water park.
