Great Wolf Lodge New England is under development and currently closed. It is scheduled to open in spring 2014. Previously, the property had been part of the Coco Key Water Resort chain. Great Wolf Lodge is expanding the size of the indoor water park and the number of hotel rooms as well as adding other amenities and remodeling the property in general.
Great Wolf hasn't divulged the exact slides and attractions that will be featured in its Boston-area water park, but the other properties in the chain, which are located in Ohio, Niagara Falls, Pennsylvania, and elsewhere, are all similar. Expect the usual suspects, including a lazy river, wave pool, and water slides. Its featured attraction will be a funnel ride. (Read about the similar High Anxiety funnel ride to get a sense of the concept.)
The resort will offer over 400 guest rooms, all of them configured as suites. Themed family suites will include whimsical touches such as a dedicated area for young children made to look like a bunkhouse. The entire resort will feature the chain's signature rustic, deep woods look.
Geared primarily to families with toddler, young children, and tweens, other amenities at the resort will include a large Northern Lights arcade with redemption games, a MagiQuest interactive adventure game, bowling, a Howly Wood 4D motion simulator ride, an animatronic Great Clock Tower show, storytelling, and a spa for kids. Great Wolf will also offer a Cub Club with supervised activities for small children. Restaurants at the resort will include a full-service grill and bar, a pizza shop, an ice cream and candy shop, and a snack stand.
