Disneyland Christmas holidays picture

Christmas at Disneyland gives the always-festive park an extra sheen of festive lights.

Disney. Used with permission.
Nobody decks its halls quite like Disneyland. From the enormous Christmas tree at the head of Main Street USA to the miles of twinkling lights, the fantasy world becomes even more beguiling during the holidays. The holidays attention used to be focused on Disneyland Park, but Disney California Adventure also has some special seasonal flair now including a new street party and a special version of World of Color.

Take a Virtual Sleigh Ride around the Resort

Special features include the following at Disneyland park:

  • Jingle Cruise
New for 2013. The beloved Jungle Cruise will get a holiday makeover complete with dock and boat decorations, seasonal radio broadcasts, and a bunch of new corny jokes from the skippers.
  • A Christmas Fantasy parade
One of the highlights of the resort's annual holiday event is its parade. You'd better watch out for Santa, who joins Mickey and the gang.
  • Believe...In Holiday Magic
The nightly fireworks show concludes with a SoCal "snowfall."
  • it's a small world holiday
The cloying dolls celebrate their multi-culti holiday traditions in a makeover of the classic attraction. Read more about the 2009 refurbishing of it's a small world.
  • Haunted Mansion Holiday
The retrofitted Mansion introduces Jack Skellington (of A Nightmare Before Christmas fame) to the ghostly mix.
  • Jingle Jangle Jamboree
A meet-and-greet area with a certain jolly V.I.P., his wife, Mrs. Claus, and classic Disney characters dressed in their holiday finest. There are also games, carols, and craft-making available.
  • Sleeping Beauty's Winter Castle
The iconic abode is adorned with holiday trimmings.

Here is how Disney California Adventure will be celebrating the holidays:

  • New for 2013. World of Color - Winter Dreams
The nightly World of Color show will include holiday-themed segments including a "Toy Story" version of The Nutcracker and giant greeting cards. The seasonal version of the show will be hosted by Olaf of the new animated film, "Frozen."
  • New for 2013. Disney ¡Viva Navidad!
The park will highlight Latino holiday traditions with a street party, live music, dancing, giant puppets, and the the Three Caballeros (that's Donald Duck along with Panchito from Mexico and Jose Carioca from Brazil). The event will conclude with a celebration of Three Kings' Day.
  • Guests will be able to shake their holiday booties at Phineas and Ferb's Dance Party during the day and the Mad T Party at night.
  • Holiday decorations
Buena Vista Street, the main entrance area, will get vintage Christmas trimmings, while Cars Land will be decked out in the holiday finest of its automobile residents. "a bug's land" will also get insect-appropriate Christmas trimmings.

Downtown Disney will also get in on the holiday fun with a skating rink (in SoCal?) and other activities in its Winter Village.
