Universal Studios Florida

Caught in the rather long shadow cast by Walt Disney World, Universal Studios has always been something of a scrappy younger sibling. To make comparisons even more pronounced, the similarly themed Disney-MGM Studios opened at the Mouse House around the same time. But Universal Studios offers some tremendous attractions and has its own, unique rhythm to compel vacationers through its turnstiles. Like its sister park, Islands of Adventure, nearly every major attraction features loud, kinetic, frantic action. It's one over-the-top moment after another.

Dining
Restaurants are not the strongest point inside the park:

• Lombard's Landing- Very good food, full-service restaurant
• Finnegan's Bar & Grill- Good pub food
• Mel's Drive-In- Straight out of American Graffiti

Tips

• On-property hotel guests can skip to the front of most lines by simply showing their room card.
• Guests not staying at a Universal Hotel can still skip the lines by paying a premium price for a V.I.P. Guided Tour. Reservations recommended.
• All guests can use the Universal Express system to reserve select rides and avoid lines.
• Check the Studio Audience Center near the front gate to see what shows are being taped and to check for ticket availability. Kids, especially, may get a kick out of attending a Nickelodeon show taping.
