Find Theme Parks and Amusement Parks in Virginia

By , About.com Guide

Virginia theme parks and amusement parks are arranged alphabetically.

Busch Gardens Williamsburg
Williamsburg
(800) 343-7946
One of the loveliest parks on the planet (they don't call it Busch GARDENS for nothing), the Virginia themer also features equal doses of high-octane thrills and spectacular shows. At nearly 200 feet, Alpengeist is among the world's tallest suspended coasters. Apollo's Chariot is a tremendous hypercoaster and the imposing Loch Ness Monster steel looping coaster has been plying the park's waters for years. Once called "The Olde Country," the park uses European hamlets to great effect as both its theme and as inspiration for its way-above-average dining. Make sure you leave room for the mile-high desserts.

Dinosaur Land
White Post (Near Washington, D.C.)
(540) 869-2222
Consort with animatronic dinosaurs at this small, primeval hideout.

Paramount's Kings Dominion
Doswell (near Richmond)
(804) 876-5000
About Guide overview. Launched coaster heaven with three unique thrill machines: the suspended Volcano, The Blast Coaster, the highly themed indoor Flight of Fear, and the compressed-air propelled Hypersonic XLC. The park offers some great wood coasters as well, including the forwards and backwards, dual-track Rebel Yell. The 300 plus-foot Drop Zone is a wild freefall tower ride.
