5/25/04 Whoa Daddy! It's the New Mummy Ride
Universal incorporates so many innovations into its utterly unique dark ride/coaster, it has coined a new label for Revenge of the Mummy: psychological thrill ride. But the ride also unleashes physical thrills, including a surprisingly potent coaster experience, to produce a wild, kinetic, frenetic attraction. It's another 5-star attraction for Universal. 5/11/04 The Tower of Terror Rises (and Falls and Rises) Again
The Tower of Terror just had its grand opening in California, while the Florida version celebrated its tenth anniversary. It is a modern-day classic Disney theme park attraction. Combining a thrilling freefall ride, dazzling effects, and an inspired and fiendishly clever storyline based on the seminal "The Twilight Zone" television series, Disney Imagineers have created a ride that, like a select few E-ticket attractions, is so much greater than the sum of its parts. Read my review. Includes a comparison of the Florida and California versions of the ride.
4/27/04 We Don't Need no Stinkin' Coaster Cars
Scream- Ride out Loud, one of Six Flags Magic Mountain's many signature coasters, is among the best of its breed--a floorless coaster with some serious attitude. Floorless coasters, for the uninitiated, have no floor. (Duh!) They also have no coaster car to speak of--they're essentially flying seats. Check out my review and photo gallery of Scream.
4/20/04 In the Zone
Do you want to see what the new Twilight Zone Tower of Terror at Disney's California Adventure looks like? You've come to the right place. The ride opens to the public on May 5, but I've got some exclusive pre-opening photos of the attraction. The California version is essentially similar to the legendary ride that's celebrating its tenth anniversary at Disney-MGM Studios in Florida. With its proximity to Tinseltown, the Disneyland version rings truer, however. I'll be posting a complete ride review shortly. For now, you can ogle the photos.
