Price Hike at Florida Parks is Universal

Friday August 17, 2007
You saw this one coming, right? A couple of weeks ago, Walt Disney World raised its one-day, one-park admission fee for adults to an unprecedented $71, and, predictably, Universal Orlando followed suit. A child’s ticket went from $56 to $60 as well. Unlike Disney, which has four theme parks and a flexible ticketing program that allows guests to save by purchasing multi-day passes, Universal only has two parks. Universal does offer nominal discounts for advance purchases online (which Disney quietly discontinued with its latest pricing overhaul), and it does offer a high-value $85.99 unlimited admission pass for seven consecutive days to both of its parks when purchased in advance. But someone showing up at the gate to enter one of Universal’s parks will have to cough up $71. Do you think the prices Disney and Universal are charging are too high? Weigh in by clicking on the “comments” link below, and voice your opinion.

$71 is high, but the Disney and Universal parks do offer a lot of great rides and entertainment. Still, $300 for a family of four to go to a park?

Yes, it is getting to be too much! For a family of 4 for admission, food, etc. you can count on adding about $500 to your vacation budget for 1 day - just outrageous! They will price themselves right out of vacatation destination choices. Busch Gardens is a much better value in the area, or most certainly Cedar Point with 17 coasters for 1/2 the price!!

The prices are terrible way out of my league to bring my whole family. They make it so families can’t afford to go nor can senior citizens. It is awful.

We stopped going when they went over $50. Nothing but corporate GREED! I’m sure the people running around in the character suits aren’t seeing it -
