Nostalgic for the Myrtle Beach Pavilion

Thursday July 5, 2007
With the summer season in full swing, visitors to Myrtle Beach are walking past the desolate lot that used to be the Pavilion amusement park and pining for the roller coaster, carousel, and other delights that made the seaside spot so popular. While the roller coaster and some of the park's other rides have been reduced to rubble, a handful of attractions are now open across town at The Pavilion Nostalgia Park. Located at Broadway at the Beach, an enormous shopping, dining, and entertainment center, the mini park also includes a museum of Pavilion artifacts, the antique band organ, an arcade, and midway games. The carousel that graced the old park's front entrance will be part of the ride lineup, but was not ready for the July 4 opening day.
