The Dells are Alive with the Sound of…Water Parks

Friday March 17, 2006
The indoor water park craze that began in the Wisconsin Dells a mere 12 years ago (you can read more at the History of the Chlorination Capital) has spread throughout the Midwest and beyond. Mega-sized indoor water parks are popping up in Ohio, Niagara Falls, and elsewhere, but the area where it all began continues to make a big splash. This year, three enormous expansions are on tap at Dells resorts: A new 80,000-square-foot water park debuts at the Chula Vista Resort, featuring an uphill water coaster and speed slides; the Great Wolf Lodge adds Bear Track Landing, a 38,000-square-foot water park with a huge wave pool and a mat-racing water slide; and the Wilderness encloses its wave pool and adds a family raft ride to create a new 65,000-square-foot water park. Read all about the new goodies at the 2006 Water Park Ride Guide.
