More Coasters to Revise Restraints
Thursday June 3, 2004
Knott's Berry Farm's Xcelerator and Six Flags Magic Mountain's Superman: The Escape will both get modified restraint systems after the California Department of Occupational Safety and Health asked the parks to close the roller coasters and make the changes, according to the NBC affiliate in Los Angeles. Coaster manufacturer Intamin of Switzerland incorporated similar T-bar lap restraints on the California rides as the one that played a role in the tragic coaster accident at Six Flags New England a few weeks ago. Magic Mountain's Superman ride had already been closed for some time. It's likely that other T-bar equipped Intamin coasters will get modified restraints as well.
