The SeaWorld folks will be taking their successful water park concept to the San Diego area next spring when it opens Aquatica California. Instead of building a new park, the company has purchased Knott's Soak City in Chula Vista and will be rebranding it using its formula of great water park attractions, live animal exhibits (which is obviously a SeaWorld specialty), and a lushly landscaped and highly themed environment.
This will be the first Aquatica not located adjacent to a SeaWorld park. SeaWorld San Antonio includes admission to Aqautica in its ticket price. A separate fee is required to visit the Aquatica in Florida, which is on the campus of SeaWorld Orlando. The California water park is located about 16 miles away from SeaWorld San Diego in the nearby town of Chula Vista.
The company did not reveal any additional details about its makeover plans for the park. You can get a good sense of what to expect by reading profiles of the other parks:
