NJ Mall's Dream Come True?

By July 12, 2012

Follow me on:

For years we've been hearing grand plans for the massive mall and entertainment center adjacent to the Meadowlands complex in northern New Jersey: indoor ski mountain, wacky Xanadu name, giant Ferris wheel, water park, and more. To date we've seen nada. However, things finally seem to be moving forward, and the proposed 14.7-acre indoor amusement park just got a whole lot more interesting with the announcement that DreamWorks Animation will be involved.

According to the New York Times, the park will feature DreamWorks characters such as Shrek and Kung Fu Panda. Financing has yet to be completed, and there is no firm timeline for either the park or the entire project, which is dubbed American Dream Meadowlands. The Mall of America in Minnesota, which is similar in size and scope, includes an indoor theme park, Nickelodeon Universe, among its entertainment options. Universal parks already have attractions built around DreamWorks characters including Shrek and Madagascar.
