Disney World Sheds Light on Downtown Disney Plans.
Take the Pleasure Island Poll.

Talk about rising sea levels. Pleasure Island, the Downtown Disney entertainment district that was geared to party-hearty adults, lost its nightclubs to a tsunami of change in 2008. The Disney World area will be refreshed with a new landlocked theme to be known as Hyperion Wharf. Scheduled to open in 2013, the more family-friendly area will be fashioned after an early 1900s waterfront area and amusement pier and will feature new restaurants and shops, but alas, no nightclubs. The Hyperion name refers both to the Greek god of light and to the street where one of Walt Disney's early animation studios once stood.

Disney says that attendance had been on the wane at Pleasure Island. Carousing and dancing are so 1989, I guess. What do you think? Do you miss Pleasure Island? As a distinctly family-oriented resort, was it weird for Disney World to have the adults-only, every-night-is-New-Year's-Eve playground? Take the poll. And expound on your Pleasure Island and Hyperion Wharf thoughts by clicking "Comments" below.

“Does anybody know? Did ARD (American Rental Direct) provide any equipment for this, like portable generators, chiller or air-conditioning equipment? I see them popping up all over on these larger jobs and we have a project for this spring and they gave us great numbers, just looking for first hand experiences with them?”
