Cypress Gardens on the (Lego) Block?

Thursday October 1, 2009

Since Cypress Gardens closed last week, there has been speculation that the park might never reopen, and that its land could be subdivided and developed into condos, a mall, or other uses. The ticket booths and turnstiles may yet be placed back in action, however. According to the Winter Haven, FL News Chief, Merlin Entertainments Group may be interested in opening a Legoland park on the site. A second company has also come forward to buy the park. Legoland California successfully competes with Disneyland and other Southern California parks, and has been expanding recently with new lands, attractions, a second-gated aquarium, hotel, and plans for a water park. Should Legoland (or another park) open on the Cypress Gardens property, it would be great if it maintained at least a portion of the lovely gardens. What do you think? Would you be excited to see a Legoland come to Central Florida's theme park mecca? Click on "Comments" below to join the conversation.

With a sad heart I read the line that Cypress Gardens has been closed last month. We have spent many’ winters ‘ in Winter Haven. We always had a yearly ticket and spent several hours each day in the Park. We keep the memories and numerous pictures we took in the lovely gardens.

I’m very sad to here this beautiful land may be turned into another mall or condo. My family and I loved to visit Cypress Gardens and have been waiting and hoping it would re-open. Please don’t allow them to ruin this wonderful land when there is so many un used already built land for sale or rent. Save Cypress Garden!!!

Always there for so many years, lovely and wonderful, but I think the sales and visits slowed when the Living Statue made her exit. The water park may have been thought to add to sales, but shutting down the beloved rides ,a no no ,keeping both would have kept the part going! The older folks loved the market area and quaint shops, once they were gone the park went BLAA I hope & pray it reopens soon, Legoland may be the way to go,they’re fun and they can utilize what is already in place ,but please reopen the shops in the lil town ! God bless.
