Fairy Tales can Come True at Expanded Fantasyland

Monday September 14, 2009

Star Tours II was not the only star of Jay Rasulo’s keynote address at Disney's D23 Expo on Saturday, The Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Chairman also announced a major expansion of Fantasyland at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom in Florida. With two phases scheduled to open in 2012 and 2013, Fantasyland will double in size (taking over the less-than-stellar Mickey's Toontown Fair) and offer an E-Ticket Little Mermaid dark ride and highly themed, interactive areas inspired by the classic films, Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, Peter Pan, and Sleeping Beauty. Sounds like it will enthrall little girls. Boys, however, may want to hold out for the Marvel lands that the Imagineers have probably been busy working on since Disney revealed its Marvel acquisition shocker. Learn more at my Magic Kingdom Fantasyland expansion overview.
