Six Flags Hair Salon Will Use Rollers

Thursday February 19, 2009
Have you ever looked at riders' hair as they exit roller coasters? Whatever 'do they brought on board the ride is inevitably destroyed by the windblown, knockabout experience. Amusement parks are the last place fashionistas would want to strut their coifs. It's all the more amazing, then, that Six Flags--yes that Six Flags--is getting into the hair salon business. No, this is not April 1, and yes, the ride chain known for its bald-headed Mr. Six is really going to be cutting hair.

To be called Six Flags Rollercoaster Cuts, the first location of the children's hair salon chain is set to open next month at the Blue Black Square in West Hartford, CT (about an hour from Six Flags New England). According to the company, the "multi-sensory" haircutting experience will include coaster cars that double as salon chairs, a shampoo station outfitted with a video wall showing point-of-view coaster rides, and visits from the parks' stable of characters. Patrons will be able to purchase specially priced tickets to nearby Six Flags parks.

What's next on the park chain's diversification agenda? How about Six Flags Tax Prep? Motto: We'll help you take the IRS for a ride. Or Six Flags Coffee Cafes? Tagline: Good to the last drop. Hey, perhaps Mr. Six Dance Studios would be a hit.
