Universal Orlando to Kick Off Super Offer this Sunday

By , About.com Guide   January 29, 2009

Follow me on:

Corporate synergy will be in full bloom when NBC, part of NBC Universal (which, in turn is part of GE), will give up one of its coveted, gazillion-dollar Super Bowl TV spots this Sunday to Universal Orlando, one of its sister divisions. (Corporate synergy is taken to absurd extremes on the wonderful NBC show, 30 Rock in which Alec Baldwin's character, Jack Donaghy, boasts the title of GE's "Vice President of East Coast Television and Microwave Oven Programming." It IS must-watch TV. Are you watching? But I digress.)

The Universal Orlando folks say the Super Bowl commercial will feature a child discovering his inner superhero, and will implore viewers to find their inner superheroes by visiting Universal Orlando. Universal also says that the ad will introduce an "unprecedented offer." Um, free admission on your birthday? No, wait, that's already taken. Perhaps a free microwave with every 2-day pass? I dunno. We'll have to tune in to find out. Given the predicted outcome of the Super Bowl, there's likely to be more suspense about the nature of Universal Orlando's new promotion than the game itself.

Hmmm. I don’t know whose prediction you’re using, but I hear the Vegas line is only Steelers +7. Sounds pretty close to me.
