Ohio Tosses Boomerang to North Carolina

Monday September 22, 2008
Carowinds, the amusement park in Charlotte on the border of North and South Carolina, will be opening the "new" Carolina Cobra boomerang shuttle coaster next season. Lots of parks have boomerang coasters. In fact, the one Carowinds will be getting for 2009 used to be at (the now shuttered) Geauga Lake amusement park in Ohio where it was known as Head Spin. The transplanted coaster, however, will feature new, sleek trains that will feature wider over-the-shoulder restraints and more open cars for a smoother, more exposed ride. You can see renderings of the coaster in my Carolina Cobra Roller Coaster Preview Mini Gallery. Photo: Carolina Cobra's new-style trains. Cedar Fair, 2008.
