California's Great America to Be Greater in '09

Friday August 1, 2008
Coaster number nine, an as-yet unnamed woodie, is on tap for California's Great America in Santa Clara (near San Jose and San Francisco) next season. The thrill machine will soar over 100 feet, reach a top speed of 52 mph, and include a unique low-to-the-ground, S-turn first drop. According to Brady MacDonald at the L.A. Times, the coaster will be located in Carousel Plaza, near the front of the park, and will be built around the Star Tower ride. Other rides at California's Great America include the Flight Deck inverted coaster, the Vortex standing coaster, and the 224-foot tall Scream Zone drop tower.
