Brendan Fraser Meets his Mummy at Universal Studios
Thursday July 24, 2008
The latest sequel in the The Mummy film franchise, Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, opens in theaters next Friday, August 1. The klieg lights will be scanning the skies this Sunday evening, July 27, when the movie has its world premiere at Universal CityWalk in Hollywood. Earlier in the day, Mr. Mummy himself, Brendan Fraser, will be greeting guests at Universal Studios Hollywood and testing his mettle on the dark ride/coaster, Revenge of the Mummy--The Ride. While it's not quite as good as the five-star Mummy attraction at sister park, Universal Studios Florida, the West Coast version is nonetheless a wild ride. In other Universal Studios Hollywood news, the park recently debuted The Universal Experience: Behind the Scenes of Universal Pictures. The mini-museum features actual props and memorabilia from the studio's vast library of films, including storyboards from Back to the Future, Gregory Peck’s briefcase and glasses from To Kill a Mockingbird, and the Book of the Dead from The Mummy. The park's studio tour suffered a major blow when a devastating fire ripped through Universal's backlot in June. The park and all of its attractions, albeit with an abbreviated tram tour, is open.
