Every Which Way AND Loose at Busch Gardens
Monday May 19, 2008
You can't keep a good orangutan down. Busch Gardens Tampa found that out the hard way when Luna Bella, one of the park's six orangutans, escaped from an exhibit Saturday night. According to the St. Petersburg Times, the officials asked guests to leave the Jungala area of the park and closed it down while caretakers coaxed the orangutan into its night quarters with ice cream and fruit. Neither the animal nor any guests were harmed during the escape. Park reps say a design flaw allowed the orangutan to find a way out and they plan to make changes to the exhibit. Busch Gardens opened the Jungala area in April. In addition to orangutans, it features a tiger exhibit, a mini drop tower ride, a zip line attraction, and a large climbing and play structure.
