Hard Rock not the Only Park Rocking Out
Thursday May 1, 2008
Myrtle Beach's new Hard Rock Park, which recently opened for a soft-opening "sound check," will make some noise on June 2 and 3 with a two-day official grand opening featuring live concerts by the Eagles and The Moody Blues. The high-profile shows will require special tickets (which cost a high-profile $285 online, ouch!) that include admission to both concerts plus admission to the park both days, parking, food and drink, and other goodies. In addition to the special-ticket shows, Hard Rock Park will present concerts throughout the year that will be included in the regular price of admission ($50). On May 13, for example, Kid Rock and Rev Run will appear. Other concerts planned include Sister Hazel, The Charlie Daniels Band, .38 Special, and George Clinton & Parliament/Funkadelic. Hard Rock doesn't have the exclusive on live music at parks, however. Florida's Cypress Gardens, which has had a great lineup of country, rock, and other artists the past few years, will present Tito Nieves on May 10, Lynyrd Skynyrd on May 24 of Memorial Day weekend (somebody shout, "Freebird!"), and Jars of Clay on June 28, all included with park admission. And Six Flags, which will be showcasing bands all season as part of its Starburst Thursday Night Concert and Sunday Rocks! series, will bring Good Charlotte, Danity Kane, Raven, Boys II Men, Blondie, Foreigner, and others to many of the chain's parks. The Six Flags concerts will be included with admission.
