It used to be known as Knott's Camp Snoopy. But this Saturday, the park inside Minnesota's Mall of America will officially don the new name, Nickelodeon Universe. More than a place for locals to shop, the oversized, frenetic shopping mecca--the largest mall in the U.S.--is a tourist destination in its own right. It makes perfect sense therefore (sort of) that plopped into its cavernous middle is a theme park. We're not talking about a couple of kiddie rides and a cotton candy machine. This is a full-fledged amusement park with three coasters, a giant Ferris wheel, and a slew of other thrill and kiddie rides. The re-imagined park now takes its theme from the popular Nickelodeon children's network. New rides include SpongeBob SquarePants Rock Bottom Plunge, a coaster that will drop at a 97-degree angle from a 67-foot height, and Avatar Airbender, a half pipe coaster that will use LSM launch technology. Nickelodeon Universe.
