Legoland Visitors Won't Have to Line Up Around the Block

Thursday February 21, 2008
Nothing can derail a fun day at a theme park more than humungous lines. To experience 3.5 minutes of park ride bliss, guests sometimes have to endure over two hours of misery in a slow-moving queue. Long lines are especially difficult for fidgety young kids--the core audience at Legoland Windsor in the UK. The paean to plastic, however, will be making lines more manageable when it introduces the Q-bot system this March. For an additional fee, guests will be able to obtain a wireless, handheld Q-bot device that will allow them to make ride reservations from anywhere in the park. The virtual queue system will hold the guests' places in line while freeing them up to experience other things. The folks at Legoland California say that the US park may also get the Q-bot system based on the success of the trial at their sister park in England. Other parks that use the Q-bot virtual queue program include some of the Six Flags parks and Dollywood. The parks at Walt Disney World and Disneyland offer complimentary FastPass line management time tickets.
