Coaster Talk

Thursday February 7, 2008
Until their two-season run came to an end due to burnout from the rigors of producing the show, the guys at CoasterRadio, ably led by Mike Collins, used to provide some of the liveliest podcast banter about--you guessed it--roller coasters. I'm happy to report that they are back, at least temporarily, with some new podcasts. You can listen to the first new episode online at CoasterRadio.com. You can also download or subscribe to the show for free at iTunes and a number of other podcast sites. The focus at CoasterRadio is on coasters, attractions, and parks, but what makes the show unique is the interaction among the five on-air hosts. While they are clearly park fans, they successfully straddle the delicate line between passionate geeks and obsessed uber-zealots. They make their shows accessible and entertaining because they obviously enjoy each other's company, have great chemistry, and are quite funny. The CoasterRadio guys are producing at least three new episodes to fulfill a promise they made to donors who contributed to a charity coaster event in which they participated. By the way, you can listen to an archived CoasterRadio podcast on which I was a guest. Here's one coaster geek wishing the guys well and hoping that they consider keeping the shows going beyond the three-episode run.
