Cedar Fair Dredges Geauga Lake for Ride Castoffs
Monday November 5, 2007
There are a slew of new ride announcements for parks operated by Cedar Fair, including the former Paramount Parks. Many of the rides aren't exactly new, however. With Ohio's Geauga Lake amusement park now closed, the park chain will be shipping many of its coasters and rides to other properties. For example, the inverted Thunderhawk coaster coming to Michigan's Adventure next season is the same off-the-shelf coaster, also known as Thunderhawk, that thrilled riders at Geauga Lake from 1998 through the end of the 2007 season. The defunct Ohio park's Steel Venom, a twisted impulse coaster, is headed to Dorney Park in Pennsylvania, where it will debut for the 2008 season with the new name, Voodoo. And Dominator, the world's longest floorless coaster, will keep its name and move to Virginia's King's Dominion for a 2008 debut.
