Brits Invade Hard Rock Park Dark Ride
Wednesday October 31, 2007
It was a few weeks after the Summer of Love in 1967 when the Moody Blues released its seminal orchestral- and prog-rock concept album, "Days of Future Passed." Forty years into the future, the remaining members of the band announced today that the landmark, trippy song from that album, "Nights in White Satin," will serve as the inspiration for the signature dark ride at the new Hard Rock Park that will open Spring 2008 in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. With onboard audio built into each vehicle, guests will take a four-and-a-half minute journey through psychedelic tableaus set to the classic tune. To better showcase the song for the ride, the band's Justin Hayward will be re-recording parts of it with the Moscow Symphony Orchestra. Nights in White Satin--The Trip, as the attraction will be known, will be located in the British Invasion section of Hard Rock Park. It will incorporate laser lights, special effects, and other "multi-sensory" features, including smells, according to the park. Hmm. Considering the distinctive aroma that used to waft through the smoke-filled crowds at Moody Blues shows, I wonder what virtual smell the ride will present?
