Disney Has Another Million Dreams on Tap and will Give the Boot to the MGM Lion
Thursday August 9, 2007
Apparently one good year deserves another. The Year of a Million Dreams (which, curiously, will span 15 months when it ends this December) has been such a big hit, Disney is planning to continue the promotion throughout 2008 as well, according to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. The highlight of the event, which is being held at both Walt Disney World and Disneyland, is a Disney Dreams Giveaway sweepstakes that awards large, small, and one-of-a-kind prizes, such as one-night stays in Florida's Cinderella Castle suite and the Mickey Mouse Penthouse at California's Disneyland Hotel. In other Walt Disney World news, Disney-MGM Studios is dropping the "MGM" from its name. According to the Central Florida News, the movie-themed park will be known as Disney's Hollywood Studios starting in January 2008. Disney had been paying (probably dearly) for the rights to the MGM name, and it had been rumored for some time that it was going to give the heave-ho to the roaring lion.
