New MI and IN Indoor Water Parks Make Rather Small Splash
Tuesday May 8, 2007
A new chain of indoor water park resorts--yes, another one--has a grandiose name: Splash Universe. But at 25,000 square feet, the indoor water parks at the chain's first two locations are comparatively small squirts. (To learn about 125,000-square-foot-and-bigger indoor water park behemoths, read A Lotta Water: Who Has the Biggest Indoor Water Parks?) Splash Universe RiverRun in Dundee, Michigan recently opened. Splash Universe WanaWaves in Shipshewana (near Fort Wayne), Indiana is set to open this July. Both lack the marquee attractions of larger indoor water parks such as an uphill water coaster, a surfing ride, a bowl ride, or even a family raft ride. They do, however, offer the basic water slides, a lazy river, and an interactive water play station. They also include a hotel, an arcade, and the Adventure Quest Kids Clubhouse, which provides crafts, storytelling, and other activities for younger children.
