Led Zeppelin--The Ride to Headline Hard Rock Park
Monday April 16, 2007
You need a coolin' ride, baby? I'm not foolin'. The Hard Rock Park, now under construction in Myrtle Beach, SC, will include a Led Zeppelin-themed roller coaster when it opens in spring 2008. In my last report about the new park, I wrote that five rock-inspired coasters were under development, although the Hard Rock folks had only released info about three of them at the time. Led Zeppelin--The Ride marks the fourth announced thrill machine in the park's lineup. The 150-foot tall coaster will offer six inversions, including a zero-g roll, and feature an onboard audio system that will belt out the band's fist-pumping hit, "Whole Lotta Love." There is no info about top speed, but at 150 feet it should be quite a screamer. The coaster mavens at Switzerland-based Bolliger & Mabillard, known for incredibly smooth and pitch-perfect rides such as Nitro at Six Flags Great Adventure and Apollo's Chariot at Busch Gardens Williamsburg, will build Led Zeppelin--The Ride. Until the park opens next spring, I guess we'll all have to keep coolin'. As for me, baby? I'll be droolin'.
