Coming on the heels of Six Flags' announcement that it would not sell Magic Mountain, the chain revealed a name change for its other California park. Six Flags Marine World in Vallejo (near San Francisco) will now be known as Six Flags Discovery Kingdom. With exhibits featuring land animals as well as ocean creatures, mixed with a healthy dose of roller coasters and other rides, the Marine World name had been something of a misnomer. In addition to the new Discovery Kingdom tag, Six Flags says that the park will get an identity makeover and other enhancements. For example, an updated entry area will give guests an opportunity to interact with animals, and a new Trainer for a Day program will offer behind-the-scenes access to the park's animal shows.
