Water Parks Falling Over One Another in Illinois
Thursday May 11, 2006
Two major indoor water park resorts are on their way to the Chicago area. Grizzly Falls Resort, featuring a 100,00-square-foot indoor water park (which will make it Illinois' largest--and one of the industry's largest) and 400 hotel suites, is scheduled to open by spring 2008 in Rosemont. According to the Chicago Tribune, the KeyLime Cove Resort and Water Park, with an 80,000-square-foot indoor water park and 611 hotel rooms, is expected to debut by mid-2007 in Gurnee, Illinois, near Six Flags Great America. Chicagoans already have two smaller indoor water park resorts to visit, Grand Bear Indoor Waterpark at Starved Rock and Mayan Adventure at Holiday Inn Elmhurst, as well as a slew of other indoor water parks throughout the Great Lakes area. The wet and wild craze for indoor water park fun shows no signs of running out of steam.
