Looking for More Disney Rides? Stay Tooned.

Monday March 13, 2006
Unlike last year's contentious brouhaha over former CEO Michael Eisner, this year's annual meeting of Disney's shareholders was more of an and-they-all-lived-happily-ever-after pep rally. Among the revelations to emerge from the love-fest: more--and more timely--theme park attractions tied to hit animated films. According to Reuters, John Lasseter, Pixar Animation Studios creative chief and newly named creative head of Disney Imagineering, says he'd like to speed up the process of debuting a theme park attraction to capitalize on a popular movie. Disney is set to finalize its acquisition of Pixar, the studio responsible for wildly successful computer animated films such as Toy Story and Finding Nemo, by this May. "I never understood why you wouldn't start designing a ride when you start making a film, so two months after a film comes out you have a ride," Lasseter said at the meeting. Pixar is scheduled to release the films Cars in June and Ratatouille in the summer of 2007. So, might we expect "The Enchanted Eggplant Room" to open at Disneyland next summer as well? Stay tooned.
