Hoisting the Six Flags on New York's New Indoor Water Park
Tuesday February 14, 2006
Six Flags Great Escape Lodge, the indoor water park resort that just opened across the street from The Great Escape theme park near Lake George, New York, is the first indoor water park from the Six Flags chain. It is also the Empire State's first indoor water park and the first major indoor water park resort in the Northeast U.S. Bathing suit-clad vacationers, oblivious to February's frosty chill and snow, frolicked in the toasty, 80-degree warmth and tried out the park's assortment of slides and attractions, including, a (surprisingly long) lazy river, the Avalanche family raft ride, and Boogie Bear Surf, a FlowRider wave simulator for body surfing. If you think "Six Flags hotel" means tacky or low budget, think again. The inviting, early-1900s Adirondack themed resort is striking and elegant--in a comfortable, pseudo-rustic kind of way. I've got exclusive photo galleries of both the indoor water park as well as the lovely hotel and its amenities. Read more about the new Six Flags Great Escape Lodge.
