The new owners, Merlin Entertainments Group, announced that it plans to augment its successful Legoland California with another location in North America. It hope to choose a site shortly and open the new park within the next three to five years. Merlin also announced that in 2006, the California park will open a new land, Pirate Shores, that will feature a Pirate Splash Battle attraction, a huge interactive water play structure, and a small flume ride.
