Soon, You'll be Able to Schlitter Year-Round

Tuesday December 13, 2005
Schlitterbahn, the New Braunfels, Texas water park with the funny name, has a sister park in Galveston Island set to open in early 2006. I know what you're thinking: early 2006? That About Theme Parks Guide guy must be dizzy from riding too many carousels. No, that's neither delirium nor a typo. How can a water park open during the winter? The unique park will have a retractable roof that will allow it to convert some of its outdoor rides into an indoor water park during the colder months and inclement weather. The indoor part of the park, which will include a Torrent River, speed slides, and a hot tub, opens first. The entire park will open by the summer season. Read more about the new park. There is also a Schlitterbahn Beach park in South Padre Island.
