It's All Greek to Me

Tuesday December 6, 2005
It had to happen sooner or later. Wisconsin Dells, the indoor water park capital of the world, will be home to an indoor theme park. Parthenon, a 43,000-square-foot indoor park scheduled to open in late 2006, will be part of the Mt. Olympus Water and Theme Park complex that includes an outdoor theme park, an outdoor water park, and an indoor water park resort. The ride park, which will include a spinning coaster, will be connected to Treasure Island's Bay of Dreams indoor water park and will be marketed as one mega-facility. Just as the Dells launched the indoor water park craze, I predict the Parthenon project will kick off a wave of indoor theme parks. Another indoor water park resort, the Grand Bear Lodge in Illinois is developing an adjacent indoor theme park, the Enchanted Forest.
