Red, White-knuckle, and Blue Coaster coming to Worlds of Fun
Friday September 9, 2005
The 2006 season is looking even brighter for coaster lovers as Worlds of Fun announces it will be launching Patriot, a 149-foot-tall inverted coaster, when the Kansas City, MO park opens next spring. As you might expect from its name, the ride will fairly scream "U.S.A., U.S.A." with blue cars coasting on a red and white track supported by blue columns. Like turbo-charged ski lifts, inverted coaster trains hang from the track and leave riders' legs dangling. Patriot will jangle nerves as it dangles thrill-seekers through four inversions, an inclined bank curve, and an s-curve at a top speed of 60 mph. To be built by Swiss coaster designer par excellence, Bolliger & Mabillard, the ride should be ultra-slick and glass-smooth. Want to see the all-American coaster go through its paces? I've got three CGI-animated preview videos from Worlds of Fun, including a Patriot overview video, a Patriot rider point-of-view video, and a Patriot aerial fly-around video. I also have a Patriot preview photo gallery.
What's New at Theme Parks for 2006?
