Six Flags Hypes new Hypercoaster
Thursday September 1, 2005
The 2006 season is beginning to shape up as another winner for roller coaster fans. Six Flags Over Georgia announced today that Goliath, a new hypercoaster, will debut next year. According to the park, the coaster will climb 200 feet and reach speeds of nearly 70 mph. The massive coaster, which will travel over 4400 feet of steel track, will extend beyond the park's berm. Although it shares the same name, the Georgia coaster will apparently not share the same manufacturer or--thankfully--the same layout as the Goliath coaster at Six Flags Magic Mountain. The Southern California coaster includes a punishing helix feature that nearly caused me to pass out. When it rolls out next season, Goliath will be the tallest coaster in the Southeast.
