Cypress Gardens Makes a Splash

Tuesday August 2, 2005
Once destined for the compost heap, the reborn Cypress Gardens has become quite a hit. Reopened a few months ago, the venerable Florida park has exceeded attendance projections by considerable margins, and its new owners have fast-tracked plans to add new coasters, attractions, and other features. Like its sister park, Georgia's Wild Adventures, Cypress Gardens is adding a Splash Island water park. The new park's action river, Polynesian Adventure interactive water play structure, and Tonga Tubes water slides are now open with a wave pool and other features slated to open over the next few weeks. Entrance to Splash Island is included in Cypress Gardens' general admission.
