KAme Again

Friday July 22, 2005
Kingda Ka is billed as the world's tallest, fastest coaster. Since the new coaster was sidelined after a piece of the liner cover under its launch track came undone and caused a malfunction on June 8 however, I guess the king-of-the-coasters title temporarily reverted back to the previous record-holder, Top Thrill Dragster at Cedar Point in Ohio. Well the folks at Six Flags Great Adventure may be just about ready to grab the title back. After fabricating new parts and installing them, Six Flags finally began testing the 456-foot-tall, 128-MPH beast yesterday (with nobody on board). According to Kristin Siebeneicher, PR manager at the New Jersey park, the best estimate of when the ride will resume operation is: soon. In addition to testing, she says that Kingda Ka needs to be inspected and cleared for reopening. I'll keep you posted as soon as I hear anything.
